Best Time to Visit Marrakech: Month-by-Month Weather Guide

What to actually expect in Marrakech every month — temperatures, crowds, prices, Ramadan timing, and what to plan around.
01 Spring — March to May
The most reliable stretch of good weather all year — blooming gardens, warm days, cool evenings.
- March — ~22°C days. Gardens are just coming into bloom, good month for Jardin Majorelle and the Menara.
- April — ~26°C days. One of the two best months of the year to visit — book accommodation ahead, it’s peak season.
- May — ~29°C days, getting warm by late month. Mornings are best for walking tours.
02 Summer — June to August
Genuinely hot, and best planned around rather than fought through.
- June — ~34°C days. Fewer tourists, lower prices; hammams and riad pools matter more than sightseeing hours.
- July & August — ~38°C days, the hottest of the year. Consider a coastal extension to Essaouira, several degrees cooler than Marrakech.
03 Autumn — September to November
The second sweet spot of the year, as the heat breaks.
- Septembre — ~34°C early in the month, cooling noticeably by late September.
- Octobre — ~29°C days. The other best month of the year — comfortable, and excellent conditions for a desert trip.
- Novembre — ~23°C days. Excellent for sunset viewing and walking; desert nights start turning cold again.
04 Winter — December to February
Quiet, mild days, cold nights — especially in the desert.
- Décembre — ~19°C days. Holiday season gets busy and pricier despite being technically low season.
- January & February — ~18–19°C days. Best prices of the year, but pack real layers — Sahara desert nights get genuinely cold.
One thing worth planning around: Ramadan
Ramadan follows the lunar calendar and falls roughly 10-11 days earlier each year, so check the current dates before you book. Many restaurants outside tourist hotels reduce their daytime hours, the Medina’s pace slows until sunset, and Jemaa el-Fnaa gets especially lively after the evening iftar meal. It’s not a reason to avoid Marrakech — some travelers find it the most atmospheric time to visit — but it’s worth planning for rather than being surprised by.
